Get to know Team 39 through our new series, Eagle Spotlight!
Hi BC Softball fans!
My name is Gianna Boccagno, but you'll hear everyone refer to me as GB! I'm a senior Catcher from Coral Springs, Florida who has not yet understood the concept that flip flops aren't a year round thing up here in the Northeast. Despite being a thousand miles away from home I have found comfort in experiencing new things here at BC. I got to experience my first snowfall and winter in November of my freshmen year, real seasons, how to maneuver the T, also with the help of Ellie Mataya, and the New England culture.Â
I have loved getting to explore the city of Boston and watch games at almost every stadium that Boston has to offer. Even though I'm a Yankee fan, I love going to Fenway with my teammates and watching the pros play. If I'm not at a game you can almost always find me at Mike's Pastry or any Italian restaurant nearby in the North End or Seaport.Â
On The Heights, I focus my attention on my Management and Leadership and Marketing concentrations in the Carroll School of Management. The majority of my classes are in Fulton Hall, which gives me the best opportunity for a #GassonGram after every class. In my free time I like to ride bikes with Maddy Carpe and swing in hammocks with my long time roommate Susannah Anderson. My absolute favorite memory so far at BC has been waking up super early, making signs and cheering at College Game Day my freshman year.
When I depart from Chestnut Hill and return home I like to spend most of my time at the beach soaking up the sun and making up for lost time. Visiting South Florida is always a plus because I get to see my younger brother, Tommy, and all my besties who come back from their own universities. We typically get together and run our own little practices at home and reminisce on the old days when we all played together.Â
Right now Team 39 is getting ready to settle into individuals where we get to work in smaller groups with our incredible staff. Catchers get the luxury of working with Coach Robin and perfecting our craft behind the dish until full team workouts return.
I can't believe that it's almost been four years on The Heights and that graduation is only a couple months away! As a first generation student, I am so blessed to be able to graduate and represent this institution and all of the people who have made my time here so memorable.Â
I'm so glad I get to share my time at BC with all of you and hope to see you at the Harrington Athletics Village soon! :)
Cheers!Â
