
Eagles Drop Four-Set Match to NC State

Volleyball loses fifth in a row with 3-1 decision to the Wolfpack in Worcester.
WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Boston College volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to North Carolina State in front of a near-capacity crowd of 99 at Blaney Gymnasium on the campus of Holy Cross. The Eagles have lost five in a row and stand at 12-10 overall and 2-6 in the ACC, while the Wolfpack improved to 11-8 and 5-3.
Trailing by a set after a 25-16 first, BC rallied to win the second 25-23, but NC State ran away with back-to-back 25-15 wins in the third and fourth.
Graduate middle blocker Amaka Chukwujekwu (Laurel, Md.) led the Eagles on both sides of the ball with 11 kills on a .688 hitting percentage. She added five blocks, which tied for the match-lead with teammate junior Gabby McCaa (Minnneapolis, Minn.). Junior right side Izzy Clavenna (Dallas, Texas) was second on the team with 10 kills.
For the Wolfpack, Melissa Evans nailed down 21 kills and hit .447. Amnda Rice hit a match-high .524 with 12 kills.
Sophomore setter Grace Penn (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) guided the BC offense with a team-leading 22 assists, while sophomore libero Anna Murphy (Zionsville, Ind.) led the defense with 10 digs.
The Eagles are back in action on Friday, Oct. 22 at 8 p.m. against Clemson at home.
