Long Weekend Ends With Loss at Notre Dame

Eagles swept by Irish in third consecutive loss.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The Boston College volleyball team was swept at Notre Dame, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon inside Purcell Pavilion. The Eagles (12-8, 2-4 ACC) have lost three in a row, while the Irish improved to 7-9, 4-2 with a third straight win.
BC lost in straight sets by scores of 25-22, 25-15 and 25-22. The Eagles committed eight errors in the first despite just one block from ND. For the match, Boston College was outhit .327 to .139.
Sunday marked the second straight match a BC player failed to reach double figures in kills. However, four players had seven or more with junior right side Izzy Clavenna (Dallas, Texas) tying for the match-lead with nine kills. Notre Dame's Aubrey Hamilton matched her with nine kills on the other side of the net.
Sophomore libero Anna Murphy (Zionsville, Ind.) led all players with 20 digs; her sixth match of 20 or more digs this season and first in a three-set match.
The Eagles return home to face North Carolina on Friday, Oct. 15 at 8 p.m. inside Power Gym and streaming on ACCNX.
