BOSTON COLLEGE VS. VIRGINIA - ALL-TIME SERIES

Today's game is the 25th all-time meeting between the two teams.
Boston College is 8-16 all-time against Virginia.
In ACC regular season play, BC is 7-12 against Virginia.
Last year, BC and UVA split their two regular season meetings.
On Jan. 7, 2020, the Eagles earned a 60-53 win at home.

START TALKING TABBS FOR COMEBACK PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Wynston Tabbs should be in the conversation for both ACC and National Comeback Player of the Year.
This season, Tabbs ranks first on Boston College - and 18th in the ACC - in scoring, at 14.6 points per game.
Tabbs is also sixth-best in the ACC in 3-pointers made, averaging 2.4 3FG/g.
Tabbs returned to the court after a 676-day injury layoff - one of 10 players to return in 2020-21 after a 600+ day layoff.
The Suitland, Md. native has scored in double figures in nine of 10 games this year.
He has posted two games with at least 23 points this season, including 24 points on Dec. 8 at Minnesota.
At N.C. State, Tabbs scored 12 of his team-high 18 points in the second half.
Against Rhode Island, Tabbs saw 35 minutes of action, tallying his first collegiate double-double: 16 points and 10 boards.
In 2018-19, Tabbs was one of the best young guards in the country, averaging 14.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, and 3.0 apg prior to injury.
When Tabbs was in the lineup in 2018-19, the Eagles were 10-5 - including wins over tourney teams Minnesota, Florida State.
He was named the ACC Rookie and CBS Sports/Wayman Tisdale National Freshman of the Week on Dec. 17, 2018.
Tabbs became the first freshman in BC history to score at least 15 points in each of his first three games.

In the first half at Duke, Boston College posted its highest single-half scoring performance in four seasons.

CAREER NIGHT AT DUKE FOR FELDER

CJ Felder scored a career-high 24 points at Duke, making 10-of-13 field goals - including 4-of-6 from the perimeter.
The sophomore forward also corraled four rebounds - three on the offensive glass - while blocking three shots.
On the season, Felder leads Boston College in FG%, connecting on 55.4% of his shot attempts (36-65).
Through 10 games, Felder is 12-of-32 from beyond the arc, good for 37.5%. Entering the season, he was 5-of-31 from 3FG.
He ranks 29th nationally in 2-point FG%, making 24-of-33 inside the arc - good for 72.7%.
Felder also ranks fourth in the ACC in blocked shots, averaging 1.7 swats per contest.
He has registered new career-highs in scoring, rebounding, steals, and blocks through the first 10 games of the season.
At Minnesota, Felder pulled down a career-best 11 rebounds, narrowly missing his first collegiate double-double.
Felder blocked four shots in the season opener against #3 Villanova and tied his career-best in steals (two) against Maine.

BOO FROM THE WOO - LANGFORD JR. EMERGING

DeMarr Langford Jr. registered new season-highs in scoring (12), rebounds (8), assists (3), and steals (2) at Duke.
In his second collegiate start, the freshman wing connected on 5-of-7 shots from the floor in 34 minutes of play.
Through 10 games, Langford Jr. is averaging close to 5.0 points, 4.0 boards, 1.2 assists, and 1.0 steals in 21:00 per game.
Langford Jr. - nicknamed Boo by his grandmother - is the younger brother of starting point guard Makai Ashton-Langford.
They are the first pair of brothers in BC history who are Massachusetts natives to start the same game.

BACKCOURT GETTING BUCKETS

Boston College guards are responsible for 66.3% of the overall scoring through 10 games in 2020-21.
The starting troika of Wynston Tabbs, Jay Heath, and Makai Ashton-Langford account for 47% of the team's points.
Jay Heath and Makai Ashton-Langford are both scoring well above their season averages over the last three games.
Heath is averaging 15.7 points over his last three, while Ashton-Langford checks in at 11.0 points per game during the span.
Tabbs is scoring 13.0 points per game, with Rich Kelly adding 9.3 ppg in both a reserve and starting role over the last three.

THE HEATER

Jay Heath has reached double digits in the scoring column on seven occasions this season.
Over his last three games, he is averaging 15.7 ppg, making 50% (7-14) beyond the arc and 91% (10-11) from the FT line.
Against Louisville, Heath scored a career-high 20 points (5-10 FG; 4-6 3FG; 6-7 FT).

One of the top freshmen in the ACC a season ago, Heath was the first BC frosh since 2012-13 to lead the team in scoring.
The 6-3 guard averaged 13.1 points per game in 2019-20 and set a new BC freshman 3-pointers record, with 65 made.
He reached double figures on 26 occasions, second only to Duke's Vernon Carey (29) - the ACC Rookie of the Year.
Heath was one of three freshmen - Carey and Landers Nolley II (VT) - to rank among the top 20 in the league in scoring.

WELL-ROUNDED

Steffon Mitchell - an All-ACC and ACC All-Defensive team selection a season ago returns for his fourth season in 2020-21.
He ranks sixth among active players in career rebounding (829) and first in career assists (241) among players 6-8 or taller,
He leads BC in rebounds (6.6 rpg) and is poised to become the third BC player to lead the team on the glass all four years.
Only Craig Smith and Bill Curley have led BC in rebounding in each of their four seasons on the Heights.
He was the first BC freshman to average more than 8.0 rebounds per game, is one of six players to lead the Eagles on the glass in each of his first three seasons and one of eight to lead BC in rebounding average on three occasions.
Mitchell has led BC in at least one statistical category (points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks) in 91 of his 102 career games.

HE JUST TOOK A DNA TEST AND TURNS OUT HE'S 100 PERCENT THAT RICH

Rich Kelly is averaging 9.3 points and 2.2 assists this season - his first in a Boston College uniform.
Kelly ranks sixth in the ACC in bench scoring, at 8.9 points per game.
In his lone start this season - at Duke - Kelly scored a season-high 16 points to go with three rebounds in 23 minutes.
He has reached double figures in the scoring column in six of 10 games this year.
He is connecting on 35% (16-43) from beyond the arc and his 16 3-pointers ranks third on the team through 10 games.
He has 212 career 3-pointers - 31st-most among all active players - and is connecting from deep at a 38.7% career clip.

TAKE AND GIVE

Makai Ashton-Langford notched a career-high four steals against Maine and leads BC with 17 total steals.
His 1.9 steals per game average ranks eighth in the ACC and his 1.14 steals/turnover ratio also ranks 10th in the league.
His steal percentage (steals/defensive possessions) of 3.8% ranks 128th nationally and is 11th-best in the ACC.
Ashton-Langford also ranks 10th in the ACC in assist/turnover ratio, posting a 1.71 ATR.

HOPING THREE IS THE MAGIC NUMBER IN 2020-21

Last season, Boston College ranked 184th nationally in 3-pointers per game, making 7.2 3FG per outing.
The Eagles are tied for 51st this season, making 9.0 3-pointers per game in 2020-21.
