Top-Ranked Eagles Power Past UConn 4-2 in Storrs

Jerry York collected his 1,100th career win as a Division I head coach
STORRS, Conn. – Top-ranked Boston College rebounded from a frustrating shootout loss on Friday with a 4-2 road victory over UConn in Hockey East action on Saturday at the Freitas Ice Forum to finish the weekend with four points.
The Eagles improved to 9-2-1 through 12 games for the top points percentage (.750) in the league. The Huskies fell to 5-6-2 and suffered just their second loss in the last seven games.

BC's three goal scorers from Friday night's meeting at Kelley Rink lit the lamp again on Saturday. Rookie Harrison Roy opened the scoring in the first period, while linemate Casey Carreau posted his second straight multi-point game with an assist and a goal that put the Eagles ahead for good in the second.
Captain Marc McLaughlin netted his third shorthanded goal of the season for a 3-1 cushion late in the middle frame, BC's NCAA-leading sixth shorthanded tally as a team. McLaughlin led the team with seven shots on goal, tied a career-high in scoring with his 12th point, and moved into a tie for third in Hockey East in goals (7). It was also the junior's fourth game-winning goal of the year, tied for the national lead.
Defenseman Jack St. Ivany picked up his first goal in a Boston College sweater with an empty-netter to seal to victory at 18:52 of the third.
Spencer Knight remained unbeaten on the season between the pipes at 8-0-1 and extended his personal unbeaten streak to 18 games (16-0-2) dating back to last season. The sophomore stopped 37 of the 39 Connecticut shots he faced with at least 10 stops in each period.
SCORING SUMMARY
1st 2:31, BC (1-0) | Eamon Powell's center point shot was blocked at the top of the crease, but Roy collected the rebound in the bottom of the right circle and roofed a shot past Tomas Vomacka (34 saves).
1st 8:00, UConn (1-1) | Knight kicked out Carter Turnbull's initial attempt from the left wing with his pad, but Turnbull slid the rebound into the right half of the net from the low slot.
2nd 15:48, BC (2-1) | During an odd-man rush, Nikita Nesterenko dropped a pass into the high slot for Jack McBain, who quickly found Carreau at the right post for a one-time finish.
2nd 19:22, BC (3-1) | Matt Boldy powered his way down the left wing before slipping a pass across the UConn zone for McLaughlin, who finished first time inside the right post.
3rd 15:59, UConn (3-2) | Carter Berger set up Jake Flynn at the center point and the defenseman's shot found a way past Knight through a screen provided by Nick Capone.
3rd 18:52, BC (4-2) | St. Ivany picked off a pass at the left half-wall in his own zone and sent the puck all the way down ice into an open UConn net to seal the points.
