
BC Drops 89-70 Contest at No. 2 Louisville

Freshman Ally VanTimmeren with a career-high 17 for BC
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Second-ranked Louisville made 10 three-point field goals and shot 56.7 percent from the field as the host Cardinals captured an 89-70 victory over Boston College Thursday night.
BC battled the No. 2 team in the country for 40 minutes as freshman Ally VanTimmeren and junior Cameron Swartz each had 17 points for the visitors. The 17 points were a career-high for VanTimmeren, the youngest player in the ACC who just joined BC in December after graduating early from high school.
Louisville shot 56 percent in the first quarter and knocked down five three-point field goals to lead 26-16 after 10 minutes. The Cardinals used a 10-0 run in the early going to take control.
VanTimmeren led BC with five points in the first quarter.
BC used a 7-0 run to get the deficit under 10 at 34-25, but Louisville held BC scoreless over the final 2:18 of the second quarter to take a 42-28 lead into halftime.
VanTimmeren had a huge first half as she set a career-high and led all scorers with 12 points. The Michigan native was five-of-seven from the field with two three-point field goals in 15 minutes of action.
BC started hot from the field in the third quarter as the Eagles made their first six field goal attempts to cut the deficit to eight. The quick start included a layup and two three-point field goals from junior Makayla Dickens.
The third quarter featured 54 total points as both teams were efficient on the offensive end, including 28 points from BC. The Eagles shot 57.9 percent from the field in the quarter, but Louisville shot 61 percent as the Cardinals held a 68-56 advantage after 30 minutes of play.
No. 2 Louisville proved to be too much as the hosts pulled away in the fourth quarter for the 89-70 victory.
Dickens joined VanTimmeren and Swartz in double-figures with 13 points, including three-of-six from behind the arc.
Boston College closes out its three-game road trip Sunday at Notre Dame. Tip-off is set for noon with live coverage on ACC Network.
