Phil Steele’s Magazine also names nine Eagles to preseason All-ACC squads
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Phil Steele's Magazine named Boston College senior Zion Johnson to its preseason All-American second-team. Johnson was also one of nine Eagles named to Steele's preseason All-ACC squads.
Â
Joining Johnson on the preseason All-ACC teams included first-team selections in junior running back David Bailey and senior offensive lineman Ben Petrula. Hunter Long (second-team TE), Alec Lindstrom (second-team offensive line), Max Richardson (second-team linebacker), Brandon Sebastian (third-team defensive back), Travis Levy (third-team kick returner) and Tyler Vrabel (fourth-team offensive line) rounded out the preseason All-ACC selections from Phil Steele.
Â
Johnson quickly blossomed into one of the ACC's best offensive linemen in 2019 after transferring from Davidson. Johnson started seven games, but played 90% of the snaps at left guard. A three-time ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week selection in 2019, Johnson was a key member of a BC offensive line that was among the national leaders in sacks allowed and rushing yards. He was named to the All-ACC first-team following the 2019 season.
