Doton Given USA Field Hockey National Coach Award

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boston College Head Coach Kelly Doton has been given the USA Field Hockey National Coach Award through a public vote conducted by USA Field Hockey.

The award is presented to a USA Field Hockey Coach Member that exemplifies the values of sportsmanship, fair play and healthy competition. This individual is dedicated to their craft and works tirelessly to make their players, fellow coaches and the field hockey community better.

Doton led BC to an unprecedented season in 2019, where the Eagles went 15-8 and 4-2 in the ACC, setting a program-record for ACC wins. BC entered the ACC Tournament as the No. 2 seed and would advance to its first-ever ACC championship game appearance.

She then led the Eagles on a NCAA Tournament run that saw BC beat Northwestern, 2-1, in the first round and Louisville, 2-1 (5-4 SO) in the second round to advance to its first-ever Final Four.

Earlier this year, Doton became the first-ever BC coach to be named ACC Coach of the Year and BC's first conference coach of the year since Sherren Granese won the BIG EAST Coach of the Year in 1998.
