CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College fencing program has placed five student-athletes on the Atlantic Coast Conference All-ACC Academic Fencing team, as announced Thursday by the conference.
Â
Bin Huang, Spencer Kuldell, Bolang Meng, Rylie Rueda and Gillian Lawlor each earned the recognition, which is based on academic and athletic achievement during the 2019-20 season. This was the second time that Kuldell, Meng and Lawlor have earned spots on the All-ACC Academic Fencing team.
Â
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

Meng, an economics major from Foster City, Calif., finished sixth in sabre at the ACC Championships and then took 14th at the NCAA Northeast Regionals. Huang, a finance major from Concord, Mass., finished fifth in foil at ACCs before going on to take 14th at the NCAA Northeast Regionals to earn a spot in the NCAA championships.
