Dominant Offense Lifts Eagles Over Hofstra
March 11, 2020 | Lacrosse
The lacrosse team combined for its season-high in goals with a 20-10 win over the Pride
NEWTON, Mass. – The No. 20 Boston College women's lacrosse team dominated Hofstra, 20-10, on Wednesday afternoon at the Newton Lacrosse Complex. Sophomore Jenn Medjid (5G) and redshirt freshman Cassidy Weeks (4G) notched career-bests while junior Charlotte North racked up eight points (3G, 5A). Sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Hall led with 11 saves on 21 shots faced.
The Eagles (4-3, 0-1 ACC) stormed out to a 7-0 opening run, led by three goals from Cassidy Weeks. Freshman Ryan Smith recorded her first career goal after back-to-back goals from Weeks before Medjid and Jordan Lappin added to BC's run. Weeks and North both added before Hofstra's Alyssa Parella found her way past Hall. Lappin answered, but only before Parella tallied her second of the game. The Eagles didn't slow down, as Cara Urbank answered right back to make it a 9-2 game. Taylor Mennella tallied for the Pride, but the Eagles saw three different scorers in Kate Taylor, Medjid and Lappin there to respond. The Pride had two goals to the Eagles' one to round out the opening half, but the 13-4 halftime score would prove to be BC's best performance so far this season.
Hofstra found its footing to open the second, scoring the first two goals of the frame. North cut the run but Hofstra's Katie Whelan scored off the draw just 18 seconds later. Arianna Esposito and Erin Demek both tallied for the Pride, but the Eagles rounded out the game on a 5-0 scoring run to earn a 10-goal win.
