Knight Named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week

WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Prior to making his Beanpot debut on Monday, Spencer Knight was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week following his fifth shutout of the season.

Knight made 30 saves in a 3-0 road victory over No. 7 UMass at the Mullins Center on Friday which lifted the Eagles into a first place tie in Hockey East with the Minutemen.

The rookie became just the fourth Eagle goaltender in program history with at least five shutouts in a single season. He is seventh nationally in winning percentage (.682) with a 15-7-0 record and is tied for second in shutouts.

With his next clean sheet, Knight will tie Joe Carroll and Parker Milner for seventh all-time in career shutouts in BC history as only a first-year goalie.

The fourth-ranked Eagles (16-7-0, 10-5-0 HEA) begin the 68th Beanpot tonight at TD Garden against rival Boston University at 8 p.m. The game will be televised live on NESN, NHL Network, and TSN2 in Canada.
