
Eagles Ready for Bulldog Classic

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College softball team continues its non-conference schedule and opens spring break in Athens, Georgia for the Bulldog Classic from Feb. 27 to March 1.

Boston College is heading back to Georgia, this time to Athens, for the Bulldog Classic. There the Eagles will face Georgia, Western Carolina and Eastern Illinois in a five-game weekend.
Georgia enters the weekend 15-3, with a game against Clemson still to play before-hand. They have yet to lose at home this season and are a perfect 12-0. Offensively, they have four players currently batting over .400, while Ciara Bryan is currently batting .404 with eight home runs and 24 RBI.

Eastern Illinois is currently 7-5 with no Power Five wins. Offensively, they're led by Kayla Bear, who is hitting .342 with 11 runs. All three of the Panthers' pitchers have ERA's above 3.80, while Taylor Florea is 2-3 and Jade Montgomery is 4-2.
Western Carolina enters at 2-2, splitting doubleheaders with Clemson and Winthrop. They opened the season with a 2-0 win at Clemson before falling 8-0 in five innings directly after. Bailey Huneycutt is hitting .400 with two home runs so far this year, while they have had four pitchers make appearances this year.
Going, Going, Going. Gone!
Jenna Ergle displayed her power while in Columbia, South Carolina, hitting three home runs on the weekend. She now leads the team with four home runs this year. Each home runs this past weekend were solo shots.
An Ace on the Mound
Susannah Anderson has been stellar to start the season for the Eagles. She has appeared in 10 games with a 5-5 record, but has an ERA of 1.55, WHIP of 0.96 and 58 strikeouts. She currently sits fifth in the ACC in ERA, second in innings pitched (58.1) and third in strikeouts. She also leads the ACC with three shutouts this season.
Anderson closed the FGCU Classic with her best performance of the year, a no-hitter against Georgetown. She completed the game with a 1-0 win and 10 total strikeouts, while hitting two batters.
Looks Like It's Going to be a Close One
Boston College has consistently played close games all season, with the largest margin of victory being three runs (against Liberty) and largest margin of loss being four runs (against Iowa).
The Eagles have played tough games against good teams, losing 3-2 in extra innings to then-No. 22 South Carolina and losing 5-4 to an Iowa State team that just beat a top-10 Michigan team.
Leading the Charge
Amy Kvilhaug has taken over as the new head coach of BC softball in 2020. She has made head coaching stops at Radford and St. John's, amassing 400 wins throughout her career. She competed collegiately at Providence, where she holds seven PC career records, including starts (92), games won (72), complete games (84), earned run average (1.20) and shutouts (27). Kvilhaug is also a hall of famer at Providence.
