Eagles Fall to Clemson on Senior Night

Jay Heath leads four BC players in double-digits with 16
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Clemson connected on close to 69% from the floor, spoiling Senior Night for Boston College in an 82-64 loss on Saturday night.
The Tigers made 68.9% (31-45) of their field goal attempts - a new Conte Forum record and the sixth-best single-game shooting performance in Division I this season.
BC found itself down 10-0 less than three minutes into the contest as Clemson connected on 4-of-5 from the floor to start the contest. The Eagles got within four after a Jay Heath layup in transition made it 14-10 with 14:05 to go in the half. The Tigers would again push it lead back to double-digits - 28-18 - at the 6:37 mark and extended it to 15 - 36-21 - with 4:44 left in the period. Clemson led 41-29 at the break.
In the second half, Clemson rattled off the first eight points and built a 23-point advantage - 54-31 - with 16:22 to go. The lead would reach as many as 26 points - 73-46, 7:12 - before a 17-8 push by the Eagles to close out the contest.

- Jay Heath led four Eagles in double figures with 16 points. Heath connected on three 3-pointers, while also grabbing two rebounds and notching two steals.
- Jared Hamilton added 12 points, two rebounds, two assists, and three steals in 29 minutes of play. He made 4-of-9 shots, including 2-of-4 from beyond the arc.
- Derryck Thornton and Nik Popovic each had 10 points.
- Steffon Mitchell registered seven points, seven boards, five steals, and three assists.
- Kamari Williams and CJ Felder combined for seven points and four rebounds off the bench.
- BC shot 37.7% (23-61) from the floor, including 7-of-26 from the perimeter.
- Prior to the game, Boston College honored its men's basketball class of 2020: team managers Izzy Robinson, Jay Rodriguez, and student-athletes Matt DiLuccio, Derryck Thornton, Jared Hamilton, and Nik Popovic.
- All four seniors earned the start - including DiLuccio, a walk-on guard with the Eagles for the past four years.
- 26 - BC scored 26 of its 64 points off turnovers. The Eagles forced 20 turnovers on the night, including 12 coming from the steal.
- Steffon Mitchell (18) and Jared Hamilton (12) were the only Eagles in double figures for efficiency rating on the night.

- Boston College continues its longest homestand in ACC play, hosting Notre Dame on Feb. 26.
