Soule Dominates As Eagles Down Pitt, 70-59

BC improves to 16-10 and 9-6 in the ACC.

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Sophomore Taylor Soule recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 22 points and 12 rebounds as Boston College defeated ACC foe Pittsburgh, 70-59, on Thursday night at Conte Forum.

Boston College is now 16-10 and 9-6 in the ACC. The Eagles win streak is now at four consecutive games. Pittsburgh is now 4-22 overall and 1-14 in the ACC. BC is tied with Syracuse in sixth place as the Orange defeated Clemson tonight, 59-46, to improve to 9-6 in the conference.

Sophomore Taylor Soule shot 10-for-13 from the floor on the way to her team-high 22 points. It was the 18th game she has recorded double-digits points. Senior Emma Guy pitched in with 10 points and seven rebounds while senior Georgia Pineau had 11 points with four rebounds.

Boston College pulled away from the Panthers in the third quarter as the Eagles shot 64 percent from the field and opened up hitting the first seven shots. A Pineau fast break layup gave BC a 12 point lead with 5:32 to play in the quarter. Soule finished the quarter with 10 points while Guy had six.

Pittsburgh was led by Dayshanette Harris with 27 points and six rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Despite a 13-6 edge on the boards, BC was down 12-11 after the first quarter. Taylor Soule had four points and four boards, while Jaelyn Batts pitched in with two points and three offensive rebounds.
- Cameron Swartz opened the second quarter with a three-pointer to spark a 4-0 run as the Eagles held a 14-12 lead. Â A Taylor Soule layup with just under seven to pay gave BC a three-point lead, 17-14. Emma Guy's jumper in the lane pushed the lead to 19-14 with 5:44 left in the half. A Makayla Dickens three-pointer with 4:03 left increased the lead to 24-15. The Eagles lead was 27-21 at the half as they outscored Pitt, 16-9, in the quarter.
- Boston College opened up the third quarter 7-for-7 from the floor to take a 42-28 lead as Pitt was forced into a timeout. In the run four difference scorers with Soule leading the way with four points. With 3:55 left in the quarter, BC was shooting 80 percent from the floor and held a 46-33 lead. Soule was 5-for-6, with 10 points with four boards in the quarter as BC took a, 50-33, lead going into the final quarter.
- After shooting 64 percent in the third quarter, Boston College remained hot as the Eagles hit 7-for-11 from the floor. The lead ballooned to 20 points with 4:23 to play in the game.

- Sophomore Taylor Soule picked up her ninth double-double (18 points, 12 rebounds) of the season. She set a new program record for most double-doubles by a sophomore in one season. The record of eight double-doubles was held by Carolyn Swords set in the 2008-09 season.
- BC is now 8-1 when Soule records a double-double. She has led the team in scoring and rebounding in the last three games.
- Emma Guy finished with 10 points and six boards. It marks the 21st game Guy has reached double-digits in scoring this season. Â
- The 16 wins for BC is the most since the 2010-11 season. That season BC went 20-13.Â
- Senior Georgia Pineau has averaged 10.3 points coming off the bench in the last three games.
