Eagles Fall to Black Bears in Overtime

Kelly Pickreign finished with at 30 saves for the second consecutive game.
ORONO, Maine – The Boston College women's hockey team fell in overtime to the University of Maine on Saturday afternoon at Alfond Arena. Tereza Vanisova scored for Maine with 34 seconds remaining in overtime for the 2-1 win.
Maine scored just over five minutes into the first period and took that 1-0 lead all the way to the third period. Kelly Browne's 12th goal of the season pulled the Eagles even early in the third period.
The Black Bears tested Kelly Pickreign early in overtime, pushing the BC goaltender to make four saves, before Vanisova ended it in the final minute.
Carly Jackson finished with 35 saves for Maine to Pickreign's 30. The Eagles went 0-for-1 on the power play while the Black Bears were 0-for-2.

- 1st, 5:02 | 0-1, MAINE GOAL: A blocked shot fell to Ida Kuoppala in the left circle and her wrist shot beat Pickreign at the post.
- 3rd, 2:23 | 1-1, BC GOAL: After Hannah Bilka's initial shot dropped in the slot for an attempt by Caroline DiFiore, Browne scooped up the loose puck and roofed it home from the bottom of the right circle.
- OT, 4:26 | 1-2, MAINE GOAL: Vanisova picked off a pass in the neutral zone and skated down the left side of the zone before firing a shot into the upper right corner of the net.
- BC now holds a 44-17-7 advantage in the all-time series, including a 21-8-4 mark in away games … this loss snapped an eight-game unbeaten streak in the series for the Eagles … head coach Katie Crowley is 33-6-3 all-time against the Black Bears.
- This marked the third consecutive overtime contest between the two teams, with both squads going 1-1-1.
- Kelly Browne scored her 12th goal of the season to set a new career-high … she now has 35 points on 12 goals and 23 assists … she now has 23 career goals, which pushes her into the top-40 in program history.
- This marked the third consecutive game and fifth time this season that Kelly Pickreign has finished with 30 or more saves.
- Delaney Belinskas and Hannah Bilka both finished with six shots on goal for the Eagles.
- Bilka picked up her 21st assist of the season on Browne's goals while Caroline DiFiore picked up her seventh.
