
BC Drops Two at ACC/Big Ten Challenge

ATLANTA - The Boston College softball team dropped two games at the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, losing to Nebraska in the first game, 5-2, and Iowa in the second game, 4-1, in Atlanta.
Game 1 vs. Nebraska
Ellie Mataya had a stellar game for BC, going 3-3 with a walk and two runs. On the mound, CC Cook pitched all six innings, giving up five runs (four earned) on five hits with four strikeouts.Â
The Eagles scored in the top of the first, when Kristin Giery hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Mataya.Â
Nebraska would score five straight the rest of the game, before BC got back on the board in the top of the seventh. Gianna Randazza hit a double to center field, scoring Mataya and advancing Sarah Stocker to third.
Game 2 vs. Iowa
BC started off the second game of the day strong. Stocker hit a line drive double to right field for her first-career hit before AJ Alatorre brought her home. Alatorre hit a single up the middle, advancing Stocker to third, who then scored on an errant throw.Â
Iowa answered with three runs of its own in the third, though.
Susannah Anderson earned the nod to start, throwing four innings, allowing four hits and four runs - three earned. She was relieved by Haley White, who made her first-career appearance for the Eagles, throwing two innings with one hit and two strikeouts.
What's Next
The Eagles are back tomorrow for the final game of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, playing Nebraska on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. in Atlanta.
