Eagles Fall to Iowa in ACC/Big Ten Challenge

ATLANTA – The Boston College softball team fell to Iowa, 4-0, in its first game of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Friday, Feb. 14 at Mewborn Field on the campus of Georgia Tech.

Susannah Anderson started things off on the mound, throwing four innings, while giving up three runs (one earned) on seven hits and registering three strikeouts. Peyton Schnackenberg worked in relief of Anderson, throwing three innings, only allowing one run on one hit with three strikeouts.

The Eagles showed some life in the bottom of the fourth, when Ellie Mataya walked to open the inning. Then Mataya stole second before Kristin Giery advanced her to third on a single to right field. BC had nothing to show for it though before a groundout ended the inning.

What's Next
BC is back tomorrow for a doubleheader, first against Nebraska at 10 a.m. and followed by its second tilt against Iowa at 3:30 p.m.
