Cara Urbank, Charlotte North and Sheila Rietano have earned placement on the 2020 Player of the Year Watch List
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Three members of the Boston College women's lacrosse team have been named to the 2020 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, as announced by the foundation on Thursday. Seniors Sheila Rietano and Cara Urbank make their debut on the list as junior Charlotte North earns the second honor of her career. The Tewaaraton Award is given annually to the best player in college lacrosse.
North's first selection came during her sophomore campaign at Duke, where she finished the season ranked third nationally in goals per game with 4.32. In just two games in maroon and gold, North is already ranked second in the ACC in goals per game (5.50) and third in points per game (7.50) while taking more shots per game than anyone else in the conference (9.50). In the Eagles' first win of the season, North tallied a single-game program record, marking eight goals and assisting on four others for a career-best 12 points. So far on the Heights, she has earned placement on both the Preseason All-ACC Team and the Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America First Team.
Rietano returns as the Eagles' lead draw winner, gathering 24 as a junior. She also tallied 49 points last season, scoring 35 goals and adding 14 assists through 24 games as a starter. The senior earned placement on the Preseason All-ACC Team this season following a spot on the All-ACC Second Team in 2019.
Urbank has already earned Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America Honorable Mention nods after earning placement on the All-ACC Second Team last season. The Mineola, N.Y. native racked up 74 points through 55 goals and 19 assists as a junior, coming into her senior campaign as the Eagles' lead returning offensive threat.
Last season, the Eagles had four names on the Watch List, headlined by 2018 recipient Sam Apuzzo.Â
