Red Bandanna Game against the Fighting Irish set for 3:30 p.m.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced today that Saturday's game between Boston College and No. 2 Notre Dame will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. from Alumni Stadium. ABC will televise the game to a national audience.
As an annual tradition and one of most special days of the season, Boston College will honor Welles Crowther in the annual Red Bandanna Game against Notre Dame.
Crowther is known as the "Man in the Red Bandanna" after he saved over a dozen lives in the South Tower during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. He wore a red bandanna, which he carried with him and wore during his playing days at The Heights, to protect himself from the smoke and dust.
The Eagles will wear special Under Armour uniforms for Saturday's game for the first time.
Saturday's game marks the first time since 2013 that Boston College has made three appearances in the same season on ABC. The Oct. 31 game between BC and No. 1 Clemson on ABC had an audience of 4.56 million viewers, the second-best viewership of any college football game that day. The Oct. 3 game involving BC and No. 12 North Carolina registered an audience of 2.03 million viewers.
In addition to the television coverage on ABC, WEEI 93.7 FM will broadcast the game.
Saturday's game against Notre Dame and the Nov. 27 contest versus Louisville will be held without fans at Alumni Stadium as a result of COVID-19. Only essential game management personnel and credentialed media will be permitted to attend.
