Eagles Complete Season-Opening Weekend Sweep Over UNH

Kelly Browne scored her 25th career goal and Kelly Pickreign made 29 saves en route to the Eagles 4-1 win.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women's hockey team earned an eighth consecutive home-opening win with a 4-1 victory over New Hampshire on Saturday at Kelley Rink.
A busy opening period, where four of the game's five goals were scored, included goals from Savannah Norcross, Jillian Fey and a short-handed tally from Hannah Bilka to give the Eagles a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes of play. After a scoreless middle frame, Kelly Browne scored the lone goal of the third period.
Kelly Pickreign finished with 29 saves for the Eagles, which included 25 consecutive saves. Ava Boutilier stopped 29 shots for the second straight night for the Wildcats.
The Eagles went 0-for-2 on the power play while UNH was 0-for-4. BC held the 33-30 lead in shots on goal in the game.

SCORING
- 1st, 9:48 | From the Boston College blue line, Gaby Roy chipped the puck off the boards into the left corner where it was retrieved by Browne behind the goal line. Browne found Norcross streaking through the high slot who snuck it through the five hole of Boutilier.
- 1st, 10:14 | Natalie Tulchinsky poked the puck to Jillian Fey at the Eagles blue line and Fey was able to skate in and beat Boutilier with a forehand-backhand deke.
- 1st, 15:23 | A great individual effort from Tamara Thierus saw her drive down the left side and shield the puck away on her backhand. She was able to throw a backhand shot on net from below the left circle to hit the left pad of Pickreign and inside the net.
- 1st, 19:10 | Willow Corson intercepted a pass in the Eagles end and skated down the ice where she threaded a beautiful saucer pass from the top of the right circle to Bilka in the high slot, with Bilka then roofing it over the glove of Boutilier.
- 3rd, 4:41 | Browne kept the puck in the offensive zone at the top of the left point and walked down the wall where she fired a wrister from outside the left dot that zipped by the far shoulder of Boutilier.
GAME NOTES
- The Eagles have now won eight straight home openers with the 4-1 win over UNH ... BC is 18-8-1 all-time in the first home game of the year and 12-1-1 under head coach Katie Crowley.
- The Eagles are now 27-43-6 all-time against the Wildcats with a mark of 15-21-4 in home games … head coach Katie Crowley is now 24-14-4 in her career against UNH.
- The Eagles are now 9-2-0 in their last 11 games vs the Wildcats at Kelley Rink.
- Boston College had six different goal scorers in the weekend sweep vs UNH with Gaby Roy (4), Jillian Fey (2), Willow Corson, Kelly Browne, Savannah Norcross, and Hannah Bilka.
