Eagles Drop Season Opener at Louisville, 2-1

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Boston College field hockey team fell in its season opener to Louisville, 2-1, at Trager Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky on Sunday, Oct. 4.

A game that BC had to fight and claw to stay in, the Eagles were out-shot 19-4, while the Cardinals had nine penalty corners on the day to BC's four.

Jonna Kennedy stood tall in goal, making nine saves on 11 shots for a .818Â save percentage.
Â
Louisville scored first on a penalty corner before Elizabeth Warner tied it late in the first half. She found a loose ball in the circle, spun around a defender and put the ball in the back of the net.

The game would remain tied for about 15 more minutes until Louisville would take the lead on a rebound off a penalty corner.

BC had a handful of chances to tie late, winning three penalty corners in the final five minutes, but couldn't capitalize.

BC is back on the road next week for a pair of games at Syracuse on Saturday, Oct. 10 and Sunday, Oct. 11.
