Volleyball Set Back in Weekend Finale at Syracuse

The BC volleyball team took a 3-0 loss at No. 14 Syracuse on Saturday.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Boston College volleyball team suffered a 3-X setback to No. 14 Syracuse on Saturday evening. The Eagles fell to 0-6, while the Orange finished its fall slate at 4-4.

BC lost in straight sets for back-to-back nights by scores of 25-12, 25-9 and 25-X. Despite the first two sets' difference, the two sides played a tight third, which SU led just 15-14 at the media timeout. The Eagles tied the set at 15-15 on a kill from freshman setter Sophia Lambros (Fullerton, Calif.), but the Orange pulled ahead with a 3-0 run.

Senior middle blocker Amaka Chukwujekwu (Laurel, Md.) and sophomore outside hitter Silvia Ianeselli (Trento, Italy) led the Eagles with six kills each. Syracuse's Marina Markova led all players with 14 kills on a .706 attack rate.
Freshman setter Grace Penn (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) started and collected 14 assists. Lambros added eight assists. Freshman libero Anna Murphy (Zionsville, Ind.) posted a team-high 15 digs.

Boston College wraps up its fall slate next weekend with two matches against Notre Dame at home beginning Friday, Oct. 23 at 8 p.m. on NESN.
