Eagles Visit Yale, Host No. 11 Virginia in ACC Opener

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The undefeated Eagles (6-0) will travel to Yale on Friday (Jan. 31) for a 5 p.m. match at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center. BC returns home to host No. 11 Virginia on Sunday (Feb. 2) in its ACC opener at the Margot Connell Recreation Center at 10 a.m.Â

UNDEFEATED START
• Boston College is 6-0 to begin the spring and won four matches in the span of four days last week
• BC defeated UMass 7-0 on Thursday in its home opener, then pulled out a 4-3 road win at Harvard on Friday
• Laura Lopez battled Natasha Gonzalez all the way into a third set in order to secure the final point
• On Sunday, the Eagles swept Fordham (5-2) and Rhode Island (7-0), winning 11 of the 12 singles matches
• Boston College opened the season with road victories at Dartmouth and Brown, giving it a 3-0 record against Ivy schools

• The Bulldogs are currently 1-0 in their spring season with a 7-0 win over Quinnipiac
• Samantha Martinelli closed the fall ranked No. 33 in the nation in singles
• She and Jessie Gong were crowned champions of the ITA All-American Championships, the first title for both Yale and the Ivy League
• Last year, Boston College won against Yale 5-2 at home during the spring campaign
• Jackie Urbinati, Dasha Possokhova and Lopez proved to be the difference in singles after the teams were tied 2-2
