Eagles Sweep Fordham and Rhode Island to Remain Unbeaten

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College remained undefeated at 6-0 in the spring season after beating Forham 5-2 and Rhode Island 7-0 on Sunday at the Connell Recreation Center.Â
Yufei Long, Natasha Irani, Laura Lopez and Hailey Wilcox all went undefeated in a pair of singles matches. For Wilcox, it marked her first two career singles victories for the Eagles.
Long, Lopez, Wilcox, Reagan Posorske and Marion Conklin all won their singles matchups in straight sets against URI, while Irani pulled out her match in a third set to finish the sweep.
Posorske teamed up with Loren Haukova for a 6-2 win at first doubles, while Wilcox and Lopez clinched the doubles point by the same score.
In the opening match of the day against Fordham, BC dropped the doubles point but responded by winning five of the six singles matches.
Long, Irani, Wilcox and Elene Tsokilauri all needed just two sets to finish their opponents, while Lopez won her third set 6-0 in the No. 4 slot.
Boston College is back in action on Friday (Jan. 31) with a trip to face Yale at 5 p.m. The Eagles' ACC opener takes place on Sunday (Feb. 2) on the Heights against Virginia at 10 a.m.
