Eagles Continue EISA Circuit at UVM Carnival

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College alpine ski team travels to Stowe Mountain Resort this weekend for the annual UVM Carnival. Competition begins with the giant slalom on Friday (Jan. 24) and closes with the slalom on Saturday (Jan. 25) in Stowe, Vermont.

Friday (Jan. 24)
9 a.m. • Women's Giant Slalom 1st Run, followed by Men's Giant SlalomÂ
12 p.m. • Women's Giant Slalom 2nd Run, followed by Men's Giant SlalomÂ
Saturday (Jan. 25)
9 a.m. • Men's Slalom 1st Run, followed by Women's Slalom
12 p.m. • Men's Slalom 2nd Run, followed by Women's Slalom
HARVARD CARNIVAL RECAP
• Junior co-captain Parker Biele set a program record for the highest EISA finish ever by a BC women's alpine skier at the inaugural Harvard Carnival last weekend at Waterville Valley
• Biele was 13th after her first run in the women's giant slalom on Saturday before eventually placing 14th overall for her fourth career top-20 GS finishÂ
• Sophomore Trent Gutstein broke into a scoring position and earned 29th in the men's slalom on Friday
• Freshman Will Kornya made his college debut finishing 39th and junior captain Chris Bertram took 47th
• On the second day, Bertram (44th) and Gutstein (52nd) once again made the cut after the first giant slalom run and each moved up in their second run
LAST YEAR AT STOWE
• BC earned seventh place in the giant slalom at the 2019 UVM Carnival as Aaron Taylor and Parker Biele each finished inside the top-20 for the Eagles
• It was a career day in the GS for Taylor as the men's captain matched his best collegiate finish after placing 16th as a freshman at the EISA Championships in Middlebury
• For the second straight year in Stowe, Biele posted a career-best finish as she collected 17th place in the women's GS
• Following an 18th place showing as a rookie at UVM, Biele was fifth overall after the first run before dropping back outside the top-15
UP NEXT
• The EISA circuit continues next weekend with the Colby Carnival on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 at Sugarloaf in Carrabassett Valley, Maine
