Derryck Thornton leads three BC players in double figures with 15 points
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Derryck Thornton scored a team-high 15 points as Boston College dropped an 80-62 decision at Wake Forest. The loss was BC's third straight in conference play.
BC started slow out of the gates, making just 1-of-4 from the floor, and trailing 9-2 four minutes into the ballgame. Thornton scored six points and paced a 10-4 push by BC, cutting the Demon Deacons' lead to one - 13-12 - with 11:07 left in the half.
Kamari Williams' 3-pointer at the 8:52 mark snapped an 0-for-9 start from the perimeter for the Eagles, but BC trailed 23-17 with 7:13 left in the period. Andrew Kenny provided a spark off the bench for BC, drilling his first collegiate 3-pointer and corralling three boards. The walk-on also drew a charge at the 3:39 mark, with BC trailing 28-26.
But Boston College would go cold the rest of the way, as Wake closed the half on an 8-1 run. BC went without a field goal for last 4:13 of the half.
Wake opened the second half on an 16-3 run through the first six and a half minutes. The Demon Deacons scored 13 straight to open up a 20-point lead - 52-32 - with 13:38 left in regulation. BC connected on just 1-of-9 from the floor during that stretch.
The Eagles got as close as 12 points - after a CJ Felder bucket made it 56-44 with 9:45 to play.
