Eagles Edge Charlotte 4-3 in Spring Opener

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Freshman Max Motlagh clinched a dramatic season-opening 4-3 road win for Boston College over UNC Charlotte on Friday night with a clutch three-set singles victory.
Motlagh defeated Constandinos Christoforou 6-4 in the third set of the No. 4 singles matchup to break a 3-3 tie and deliver the winning point.
Max Mendelsohn was a straight set winner in the No. 3 slot against Leonardo Menezes, while Sean Mullins beat Collin Thomson in straight sets at No. 6.
The Eagles needed just three points from singles after winning the doubles point to open the match. Derek Austin combined with Javi Amantegui in his BC debut to win 6-3 in No. 1 doubles, while Motlagh and Chris Grasel posted a 6-2 win in the No. 2 slot.
Boston College will travel to face Yale next Saturday, Jan. 25 in New Haven.
