Eagles Fall To No. 4/5 Louisville, 81-70

Sophomore Makayla Dickens leads Eagles with 20 points.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Senior Dana Evans made seven three-pointers and scored a game-high 27 points as No. 4/5 Louisville defeated Boston College, 81-70, in an ACC game at Conte Forum on Thursday night.
Sophomore Makayla Dickens hit six three-pointers and led BC with 20 points and six assists, while senior Emma Guy had 19 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Freshman Jaelyn Batts pitched in with a career-high 10 points, while sophomore Taylor Soule added nine points and eight boards.
Louisville held a 10 point lead at the half, 40-30, behind 14 points from Evans. Boston College cut the lead to six points in the middle of the third quarter behind a three-pointer from Dickens.
Every run Boston College made, Louisville responded with another three-pointer, as Evans hit her seventh with 7:39 to play for a 15 point lead. The feisty Eagles battled back as Dickens hit her final three-pointer with a minute to play but it was not enough.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In a first quarter that saw four lead changes and a tie, Louisville held a one-point lead, 19-18. BC was led by freshman Jaelyn Batts with eight points. Dana Evans had five points for the Cardinals.
- Louisville slowly pulled away in the second quarter behind Evans. She hit three three-pointers in the quarter as the Cardinals took a 40-30 lead at the half.
- Batts had eight points, while Makayla Dickens added eight points with three boards for the Eagles. Evans led Louisville with 14 first half points.
- Boston College cut the lead to six points behind a three-pointer from Makayla Dickens with 6:49 left in the third quarter. Four points from Jazmine Jones followed by another three-pointer from Evans and Louisville's lead extended to 60-48 with 3:30 to play. Emma Guy hit two free throws and a layup to keep the Eagles within 10 points. Louisville hit two free throws with 24 seconds left for a 64-52 lead after three quarters.
- The fourth quarter, Louisville held the lead by responding to every run Boston College made. Evans scored seven of Louisville's 17 points in the quarter, including her seventh three-pointer with just over seven minutes left to give her team a 15 point lead. Dickens and Guy continued to battle and cut the lead to 11 points as they combined for 12 points in the quarter.
GAMENOTES
- Freshman Jaelyn Batts earned her seventh start of the season. The Eagles forward finished with a career-high 10 points as she was 5-for-10 from the field.
- Sophomore Makayla Dickens was 6-for-10 from the three-point arc for 20 points. It was the second time in her career she made six three-pointers in the game. The first was against Syracuse on Feb. 10, 2019. Her career-high is seven, which she reached against Duke and UVA last season.
- Senior Emma Guy shot 6-for-12 from the floor for 19 points. It was the sixth straight game she tallied double-figures in scoring. She has reach double-figures in points in 13 games this season. Her season-high was 21 points vs. Virginia.
- Boston College shot 48 percent for the game and 47 percent from the three-point line. BC lost the battle of the boards by just four rebounds, 28-24.
