Emma Guy leads BC with 21 points in the loss.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College fell to Virginia, 69-52, at Conte Forum on Sunday afternoon. BC is now 9-7 overall and 2-3 in the ACC. Virginia improved to 7-9 and 2-3 in the conference.
BC shot just 34 percent from the floor, while Virginia went 29-for-54 (53.7%) from the field and edged the Eagles on the boards, 36-32.
The Eagles were led by senior Emma Guy with 21 points while sophomore Taylor Soule added 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.
Virginia was led by senior Jocelyn Willoughby with 23 points and eight rebounds while Shemera Williams 17 points. Senior Dominque Toussaint pitched in with 12 points, five rebounds and five rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Boston College had a quick start as the Eagles went up 12-5 early. The run forced Virginia to call a time out and the Cavaliers responded with an 11-0 run. A traditional three-point play by Taylor Soule and a layup by Emma Guy with 32 seconds left in the quarter tied the game at 17 after the first 10 minutes of play.
- The Eagles took a three point after a Taylor Ortlepp layup and two free throws from Taylor Soule. BC's last lead in the game came off two free throws from Emma Guy with 3:17 to play. The Cavaliers took a 31-26 lead at the half behind a 6-0 run at the end of the quarter.
- Virginia extended the lead to 10 points behind Jocelyn Willoughby. She scored eight of the Cavaliers 18 third quarter points to take a 49-39 lead into the final stanza.
- The Eagles cut the lead to seven points with 6:22 to play as Milan Bolden Morris and Emma Guy hit back to back buckets. Willoughby stopped the Eagles run with a jumper in the lane to push the lead to nine points. That is the closes BC would get as a three-pointer by Dominque Toussaint and layup by Lisa Jablonowski extended the lead to 14 points.
GAME NOTES
- Senior Emma Guy finished with a team-high 21 points with five boards. It was 12th time this season she tallied double-figures in points and fourth time she led the team in scoring.
- Sophomore Taylor Soule posted her third double-double this season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. It was the fifth consecutive game Soule grabbed double-figures in rebounds. She is averaging 7.4 rebounds a game this season and 10.2 in the last five games.
- Sophomore Marnelle Garraud had five steals in the game. It was the seventh game this season she has three or more steals in a game. Her single game career-high is six, which she reached vs. UMass Lowell (11.5.19) and vs. Tulane (11.28.19). She leads the Eagles with 41.
