HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1 –The Eagles found the early lead, 5-4, but Clemson would find the way to bounce back, taking a 9-6 advantage. An 8-1 point stretch for the Tigers would take their lead to 17-9, paving the way for the first set win, but not before BC pushed back to reach within four points. Clemson took the opening set, 25-20.
Set 2 –Clemson took the first solid lead of the set despite a kill from Balido earning the first point for BC, as the Tigers went up 3-1 early on. BC bounced back to a 5-4 advantage, trading points before allowing the Tigers to jump to an 11-8 lead. The teams once again went back-and-forth with BC pushing within two points before adding four straight points out of a timeout to regain the lead, 21-19. The Eagles tallied four of the last five points of the set, capped by a kill from Naughton for the win, 25-21.
Set 3 –The teams traded runs to open the third set, with BC coming out with a 4-3 opening lead. The Tigers bounced right back, taking the next three points to go up 6-4. BC tied the set at 11-all before adding three of the next four points to take a 14-12 lead. Each team added single points as the Tigers couldn't add enough to tie the set and allowed a late BC run to bring the Eagles up 24-20. Two points for Clemson put off the BC set point effort, but the Eagles claimed the win on a Tiger service error, 25-22.
Set 4 –BC earned an early 7-4 lead, but Clemson fought back to tie the set at 10-all. A four-point run for BC regained their lead, as the Tigers wouldn't find their way closer than two points for the majority of the remainder of the set. Another late rally gave the Eagles a scare as Clemson tallied two points late to cut the Eagles' set point effort off once again, but a kill from Strawberry out of a well-timed timeout earned BC the win, 25-23.
