
Eagles Drop Home-Opener against Fairfield, 3-2, in Overtime

NEWTON, Mass. – Boston College field hockey (1-1) dropped its home opener against Fairfield (1-1) on Sunday, Sept. 1 at the Newton Field Hockey Complex, 3-2 in overtime.
Leading the way for the Eagles was junior Fusine Govaert and freshman Margo Carlin, who each scored. Sky Caron also notched her first point of the season, picking up an assist on Govaert's goal.
Boston College opened the scoring in the first period, when Govaert found the back of the cage on a penalty corner off a pass from Caron. It was one of Govaert's 12 shots throughout the game.
Then, nearly 30 minutes later, Carlin scored on a breakaway from the right corner to give the Eagles a two-goal lead.
Fairfield then fought back in the fourth period, scoring on a penalty corner with 13 minutes to play. They then followed it up with a goal two minutes later on a fast break to tie the game.
The Stags would go on to take the win 1:31 into the game off another penalty corner.
