Three Eagles scored in the 3-0 win while Allie Augur earned her first career shutout.
NEWTON, Mass. – The Boston College women's soccer team earned a 3-0 win over rival Boston University on Thursday night at the Newton Campus Fields. Gaby Carreiro, Jade Ruiters and Gianna Mitchell scored for the Eagles while Allie Augur earned her first career shutout. Carreiro finished with one goal and one assist.
Carreiro's goal opened the scoring in the 10th minute, and then the captain assisted on Ruiters' score five minutes later for a 2-0 lead that would hold until halftime. Mitchell capped the scoring with 15 minutes to play.
Augur finished with two saves for BC while Morgan Messner had three for BU.
Boston College returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 1, traveling to New Jersey for a 7 p.m. meeting with the Princeton Tigers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- 10' | After gaining the ball near the edge of the box on the left, Carreiro took a touch and then curled a shot around the defense and inside the right post.
- 15' | Carreiro controlled the ball on the left flank and cut back to center it to Ruiters near the penalty spot. Ruiters sent a shot into the right side of the goal.
- 75' | After receiving the ball from Agresti, Mitchell took a few touches to her left in the box and placed her shot past the right side of the goalkeeper, low and inside the left post.
- Boston College is now 22-5-1 all-time against Boston University … this marked the 25th meeting between the two teams as varsity clubs, with BC now sitting 19-5-1 in those contests … this was BC's fifth consecutive win in the series.
- Gaby Carreiro, Jade Ruiters and Gianna Mitchell each scored their first goals of the season … Ruiters' goal marked the first of her career.
- The Eagles have now scored within the first 10 minutes of three consecutive contests … BC has scored the first goal in all three of those games.
- Allie Augur is the first BC freshman to earn a shutout since Erin Seppi against Pitt on Sept. 22, 2016.
- BC now has seven different goal scorers on the season ... 11 different players have earned at least one point for the Eagles.
- Boston College held the 6-2 lead in shots on goal and out earned Boston University in corner kicks, 8-2.
