August 11, 2019 | Women's Hockey
Cayla Barnes, Hannah Bilka and Hadley Hartmetz will skate for the U.S. while Lindsay Agnew will represent Canada.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Four Boston College Eagles will compete in the upcoming three-game series between Canada's National Women's Development Team and the United States' Under-22 Women's Select Team. The Under-22 Series is scheduled for Aug. 14-17 in Lake Placid.
The trio of Cayla Barnes, Hannah Bilka and Hadley Hartmetz will represent the U.S. while Lindsay Agnew will skate for Canada. Additionally, associate head coach Courtney Kennedy will serve as an assistant coach of the U.S. Under-22 Team.
Barnes, Bilka and Hartmetz were named to the U.S. squad following their participation in the USA Hockey Women's National Festival in Lake Placid, N.Y. last week. Barnes, who most recently won a gold medal with the senior national team at the 2019 IIHF World Championships, captained the 2018 U.S. Under-22 Women's Select Team in last year's three-game series. Bilka and Hartmetz are both two-time members of the U.S. Under-18 Women's National Team, having won a gold medal at the World Championships in 2018 and a silver in 2019.
Agnew earned her spot after participating in Canada's National Women's Development Team camp, which was also held last week. The rising senior finished her week of camp – which included intrasquad games, practices, off-ice training, fitness testing and classroom sessions – with one goal and two assists in four games. This is Agnew's third time on the Development Team, as the Oakville, Ontario native also made the roster in 2017 and 2018.
The 2018 U.S. Under-22 Women's Select Team completed a three-game sweep of Canada during the 2018 Under-22 Series vs. Canada, held Aug. 16-19, at the Markin MacPhail Centre in Calgary, Alberta. The U.S. U-22 squad earned three regulation-time wins against Canada over the four-day event. With the 2018 Series sweep, the U.S. holds a 17-3-3-17-2 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) all-time record in event history.
All three games will be streamed live on HockeyTV.com. Click here for the full U-22 Series schedule.
