Kennedy Named to U.S. U22 National Team Staff

Eagles’ associate head coach tabbed to help the U22 Women square off against Canada in three-game series.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College women's hockey associate head coach Courtney Kennedy has been named an assistant coach of the 2019-20 U.S. Women's National Under-22 Team.

The Under-22 coaching staff will be led by Minnesota associate head coach Joel Johnson, who will serve as head coach. Holy Cross head coach Katie Lachapelle and Kennedy will be the U22 assistant coaches. The staff will lead the U.S. Under-22 Women's Select Team at the 2019 Under-22 Series vs. Canada, which will be held Aug. 15-18 in Lake Placid, New York. The coaches will also be a part of the 2019 USA Hockey Women's National Festival, which will take place Aug. 5-14 in Lake Placid, New York, ahead of the 2019 Under-18 and Under-22 Series vs. Canada.

Kennedy has served as an assistant coach of the U.S. U-18 squad on four occasions, winning gold at the 2017 and 2018 IIHF Women's U18 World Championships and silver at both the 2013 and 2014 tournaments. The Woburn, Mass. native, is a two-time U.S. Olympian who won silver in 2002 in Salt Lake City and bronze in 2006 in Turin.

Kennedy, who was honored by her peers with the 2015 AHCA Women's Ice Hockey Assistant Coach Award, recently completed her 12th season at Boston College. Head coach Katie Crowley and Kennedy have helped guide the Eagles to the 2016 NCAA Championship game, six NCAA Frozen Fours (2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017), five Hockey East regular-season titles (2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18), three Hockey East tournament titles (2011, 2016, 2017) and six Beanpot titles (2009, 2011, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018).
