
Freshmen Pick Up Additional All-America Honors

Frelick and Morissette recognized by D1Baseball and Baseball America in final Freshman All-America Teams of 2019.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College second baseman Cody Morissette (Exeter, N.H.) picked up his third Freshman All-America honor as a First Team pick by Baseball America, while outfielder Sal Frelick (Lexington, Mass.) garnered his third such honor as a Second Team selection by D1Baseball.com.
Morissette hit .441 (26-for-59) in the second half of ACC play to hit .320 for the season. An All-ACC Second Team and ACC All-Freshman team pick, he led the Eagles with 20 doubles and 41 RBI. His 20 doubles are tied for seventh most in a single season at BC. Morissette capped his season by being named to the ACC All-Tournament Team. After hitting just two home runs in the regular season, he burst on to the playoff scene with two home runs in BC's championship-opening win over Clemson.
Despite his freshman campaign being cut short due to injury, Frelick was named to the All-ACC Second Team and ACC All-Freshman Team. He hit a team-high .367 with 32 runs driven in and 30 scored. Frelick stole a team-high 18 bases and led BC with a .447 on-base percentage and .513 slugging percentage on eight doubles, one triple and four home runs.
A NCAA-leading three Boston College baseball players were named to the Perfect Game Freshman All-America Team last month with Frelick and Morissette joined by pitcher Mason Pelio (San Diego, Calif.). Frelick and Morissette were also named to the Collegiate Baseball News Freshman All-America Team.
Over the last four seasons, five Boston College players have pulled in Freshman All-America honors from various media outlets. Pitcher Jacob Stevens, a 21st round pick of the Diamondbacks a year ago, was the first in 2016 and Chris Galland, who was an All-ACC Third Team honoree last season, was recognized in 2018.
