The back half of a 10-game homestand for the Boston College baseball team begins with back-to-back midweek games against Rhode Island and Quinnipiac. The Eagles host the Rams Tuesday at 3 p.m. and the Bobcats Wednesday at 4 p.m.
ABOUT THE EAGLES
Boston College snapped a four-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over No. 1 North Carolina State on Sunday to improve to 15-17 on the season. Four batters in the Eagle lineup are hitting above .300 with freshman outfielder Sal Frelick hitting a team-high .358 with 23 RBI and 15 stolen bases. Senior third baseman Jake Alu is second on the team at .339 with a team-high 27 runs and tied for the team lead in doubles at 10. Junior first baseman Jack Cunningham posted three multi-hit games over the weekend to lift his record to .304. He slugged his team-leading fifth home run of the season against No. 1 NC State (4/6). Junior shortstop Brian Dempsey is a .302 hitter with a team-leading 25 RBI and eight stolen bases. BC is hitting .286 as a team, which ranks fifth in the ACC and has stolen a league-leading 64 bases.SCOUTING THE RAMS
Rhode Island swept Richmond on conference play this past weekend to even its overall record to 14-14 and improve to 7-2 in the A-10. Center fielder Austin White is hitting .326 with 21 runs scored. First baseman Xavier Vargas has driven in a team-high 17 runs on a .274 average.SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
Quinnipiac, which faces Hartford Tuesday, is 12-16 on the season after taking one of three vs. Canisius. Designated hitter Andrea Marrero is the Bobcats' top hitter at .330 with five home runs and 22 RBI. RHP Blake DeCarr gets his third start of the season.
