
Eagles Drop 9-3 Decision at Notre Dame

Final game of the series set for Sunday at 11 a.m.
NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Boston College softball team fell to Notre Dame, 9-3, in the second game of a three game series at Melissa Cook Stadium on the campus of Notre Dame. The final game of the series will be played on Sunday with first pitch scheduled to take place at 11 a.m. Fans can view the game on the ACC Network Extra.
Senior Lexi DiEmmanuele went 1-for-2 at the plate with a run scored, while senior Allyson Moore went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Moore extended her hit streak to seven games with a single in the second inning. Emme Martinez had a RBI single, while Gianna Randazza had the Eagles fourth hit of the game.
BC's Susannah Anderson took the loss as she went 2.2 innings and gave up five runs. Camryn Dolby pitched 2.1 innings, struck out three for the Eagles.
Notre Dame's Alexis Holloway earned the win to improve to 9-6.
DiEmmanuele opened the game with a double to center. She scored on a single to center by Martinez for a 1-0 BC lead after one.
Notre Dame (23-12, 6-5) tied the game in the second on a throwing error by the Eagles. BC stranded two Irish runners on the base when Jenna Ergle fielded a ground ball, tagged the runner, threw out the batter and completed an inning ending double play.
The Eagles (11-22, 3-8) responded with two runs in the third to take a 3-1 lead. Randazza single to right and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by DiEmmanuele. She moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single to left by Moore. BC loaded the bases and Martinez, who walked to get on base, scored when Ergle was hit by a pitch.
The Irish broke the game open in the third with a five run on three hits and two BC errors.Irish senior MK Bonamy had a two run single in the inning.
BC gave up three runs in the last two innings, including two home runs. Madison Heide homered down the left field line in the fifth, while Cait Brooks hit one to left in the sixth. Â
Following the series finale on Sunday, BC will travel to Connecticut to play UConn on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The Eagles will return to the Harrington Athletics Village on Wednesday as they host Fairfield at 4 p.m.
