
Notre Dame Tops BC, 7-2

Eagles drop three-game series vs. Notre Dame this weekend.
NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Boston College softball team lost to Notre Dame, 7-2, on Sunday at Sarah Cook Stadium in the final game of a three-game ACC series. BC lost all three game this weekend and stands at 11-23 overall and 3-9 in the conference, Notre Dame improved to 24-12- and 7-5 in the ACC.
Senior Lexi DiEmmanuele went 2-for-4 at the plate, while sophomore Emme Martinez went 2-for-3 with two RBI in the loss. Freshmen Kennedy Labshere and Kristin Giery also registered a hit.
Freshman Camryn Dolby took the loss on the mound. She gave up three runs on two hits in the first inning. Susannah Anderson pitched 5.2 innings, gave up four runs and struck out two.
Notre Dame was led by Melissa Rochford with two hits and three RBI, while Katie Marino had two hits and an RBI. Payton Tidd improved to 14-5 as she struck out two, gave up five hits and two earned runs.
The Irish scored early as the first three batters got on base with two walks and a double. A sacrifice fly to center scored Ali Wester for a 1-0 lead. Rochford hit a single up the middle which scored two runs for a 3-0 Notre Dame lead in the first inning.
BC scored two runs in the fifth inning behind a single to center from Martinez.
Notre Dame responded with three runs in the fifth on four hits and picked up one more run in the sixth on a home run by Marino.

- Boston College will next play at UConn on Tuesday, April 9. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. BC will return home on Wednesday as the Eagles host Fairfield at 4 p.m.
