Eagles Earn First NCAA Bid in 22 Years

BC will face No. 23 Florida on Friday morning in Kansas
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – For the first time in 22 years, the Boston College women's tennis team is headed to the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles secured an at-large bid to the 64-team field on Monday night and will face No. 23 Florida on Friday (May 3) at 11 a.m. ET at the Jayhawk Tennis Center in Lawrence, Kansas.Â
BC is making its first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 1997 and just its second overall in program history. The Eagles (16-10) enter the tournament with their highest win total in two decades and rank 42nd nationally in the ITA rankings.
Nigel Bentley's team has a pair of upsets over top-30 teams this season, defeating No. 10 Syracuse and No. 27 Miami on the Heights in ACC play during the regular season.
Boston College's opponent Florida owns a record of 12-11 (7-6 SEC) this season. The Gators feature two ranked singles players in No. 15 Ida Jarlskog and No. 30 McCartney Kessler as well as a ranked doubles team in No. 35 Kessler and Victoria Emma.
The host Kansas will face Denver at 2 p.m. (ET) on Friday in the first round following the BC-Florida matchup. The Jayhawk Tennis Center has both indoor and outdoor courts.
