Four draft picks and nine free agent signings for BC
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – It was a huge weekend for Boston College in the NFL Draft and free agent signings as 13 Eagles will begin their journey in the professional ranks. Highlighted by the program's 20th first round pick in Chris Lindstrom to the Falcons, BC tied a school NFL draft record with four players selected in this year's draft.
Â
Lindstrom was the second highest drafted offensive lineman in school history.
Â
BC also had four players selected in the 1995 and 2014 NFL Drafts when the draft was in the current seven-round format.
Â
Over the last four years, Boston College totaled 11 NFL Draft picks, the fifth-highest total in the ACC. Clemson (24), Miami (22), NC State (17) and Florida State (14) rounded out the top five in the conference over the four-year span.
Â
The Arizona Cardinals selected Zach Allen with the first pick in the third round and Will Harris became BC's highest drafted defensive back in school history going 81st overall in the third round to the Detroit Lions.
Â
The Buffalo Bills selected Tommy Sweeney in the seventh round as he became the first BC tight end to be drafted since 2004.
Â
Following the NFL Draft, nine Eagles inked contracts as undrafted free agents. The Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans each signed two Eagles as the Jags came to terms with linebacker Connor Strachan and wide receiver/return specialist Michael Walker while the Titans inked cornerbacks Hamp Cheevers and Taj-Amir Torres.
Â
Two stalwarts from the BC defensive line joined the professional ranks as defensive end Wyatt Ray signed with the Cleveland Browns while defensive tackle Ray Smith signed with the Detroit Lions.
Â
Offensive tackle Aaron Monteiro was the second player on the offensive line from 2018 to head to the NFL as the Miami Dolphins signed the Brockton native as a free agent.
Â
The fourth member of the BC secondary from last year joined the NFL with free safety Lukas Denis signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and wide receiver Jeff Smith closed out the free agent haul for Boston College as he agreed to terms with the New York Jets.
