BC to host UMass Lowell on Tuesday at 4.
 BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Boston College softball team lost to No. 24 Virginia Tech, 8-1, in the final game of a three-game series this weekend at the Harrington Athletics Village.
Boston College dropped to 16-32 and 4-17 in the ACC, while Virginia Tech improved to 43-8 and 20-4 in the conference.
BC had five hits and left five runners on base in the loss. Emme Martinez had two hits and an RBI, while Lexi DiEmmanuele had a double. Jenna Ergle had a hit and a run scored.
Sophomore CC Cook started the game and took the loss. She went 2.2 innings, struck out one and gave up five runs on five hits.
Boston College scored first with two outs in the first inning. Martinez hit a single to right to score Jenna Ergle. She reached base with a single to right and advanced to second on an error by the outfielder.
The Hokies responded in the third inning with five runs behind a two-run home run from Caitlyn Nolan and a three-run home run from Cana Davis. Virginia Tech added one more run in the fifth and two more runs on a two-run home run to Mackenzie Lawter in the sixth as the lead ballooned to 8-1.
Carrie Erble scattered four hits, gave up one run in four innings. She improved to 24-5 on the season. Virginia Tech had nine hits, three errors and left 11 runners on base in the win.
