
Eagles Fall To No. 4 FSU, 7-0

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Boston College softball team lost to No. 4 Florida State, 7-0, at JoAnne Graf Field in an ACC game on Saturday afternoon.
Boston College dropped to 15-27 overall and 4-13 in the conference, while FSU is now 40-8 overall and 12-5 in the ACC.
Freshman pitcher Susannah Anderson took the loss as she went 4.1 innings with five earned runs and six hits. FSU's Makinzy Herzog went six innings and scattered three hits.
The Seminoles went up 4-0 in the first inning on three hits and an error.
Boston College had two on in the fourth behind back-to-back singles from Emme Martinez and Allyson Moore. Herzog retired the side getting Gianna Boccagno to pop up and Ellie Mataya to ground out.
The Eagles had a threat going in the fifth as Carlie Sanders walked to open the inning. Gianna Randazza singled to left to put two on with no outs. Herzog retired the next three batters and preserved the shutout.
FSU exploded for three runs in the fifth inning behind two home runs and a run scoring single to left field. Herzog held BC to no runs and hits in the sixth as her only blemish was hitting Moore with a pitch.
Kara Bilodeu relieved Herzog in the seventh inning and sat down the Eagles in order to preserve the win.
Emme Martinez, Allyson Moore and Gianna Randazza each recorded a hit in the game for BC.

- The final game of the three-game series against FSU will start at noon on Sunday. The Eagles will return home to host Holy Cross on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
