FSU Takes Game One vs. BC, 5-0

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Boston College softball team dropped the first game of a three-game series against No. 4 Florida State, 5-0, at JoAnne Graf Field on Friday night.
The Eagles (15-26, 4-12 ACC) managed just four hits and left five runners on base. Two hits came in the first inning as sophomore Emme Martinez and freshman Gianna Boccagno single to put two on base. FSU pitcher Meghan King (21-5) struck out Ellie Mataya to end the inning. It would be the first of 13 strikeouts for the Seminoles pitcher.
Boston College had just two hits in the final six innings. Mataya singled in the fourth and fellow freshman Carlie Sanders singled in the fifth inning.
Florida State (39-8, 11-5) scored a run in the first off a home run from Sydney Sherrill. The Seminoles went up 2-0 in the second when Zoe Casas single to right scoring Elizabeth Mason.
FSU scored a run in the fourth and two more in the sixth for the 5-0 lead.

-The first pitch for the second game of the series is scheduled for 1 p.m. The two teams will play the final game of the series on Sunday at noon.
