No. 40 Eagles Cruise Past Louisville in ACC First Round

CARY, N.C. – No. 40 Boston College pulled out the doubles point and won three of the first four singles matches for a 4-1 victory over Louisville on Wednesday night in the first round of the 2019 ACC Championship at Cary Tennis Park.Â
The Eagles improved to 16-9 overall to earn their highest win total in the last two decades. BC moves on to face No. 6 seed Wake Forest on Thursday (April 18) at 5 p.m.
Down 1-0 in doubles, a left-handed tandem of Elene Tsokilauri and Loren Haukova beat Aleksandra Mally and Diana Wong by a break 6-4 in No. 3 doubles.Â
The 70th-ranked pair of Jackie Urbinati and Kylie Wilcox won the deciding doubles match in dramatic fashion. The duo fought off multiple match points and won a tiebreaker to defeat Raven Neely and Dina Chaika 7-6.Â
Laura Lopez earned the first singles victory in her ACC Tournament debut, beating Wong 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 6 slot. Yufei Long pushed the Eagles' lead to 3-0 as she came back from an early deficit to defeat Nikolina Jovic by a similar score (6-3, 6-2).Â
Natasha Irani clinched the first round victory for Boston College in the No. 4 slot following a 6-3, 6-3 straight set win over Mally.
