No. 40 Eagles Fall 4-2 to No. 22 Wake Forest in ACC Second Round

CARY, N.C. – No. 22 Wake Forest knocked 40th-ranked Boston College out of the ACC Tournament on Thursday night with a 4-2 victory at Cary Tennis Park. The Eagles fell to 16-10 on the season and will now await their NCAA Tournament fate, searching for their first bid since 1997.
Down 3-0, BC fought back to cut the Demon Deacons' lead to one late in the match before Wake Forest (20-7) clinched the win at No. 3 singles.
After winning the doubles point, No. 34 Emma Davis and Anna Ulyashchenko claimed the next two points for Wake following victories at No. 1 and 2 singles.
Natasha Irani put Boston College on the board at No. 4 singles as she swept Saby Nihalani in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. Laura Lopez then cut the deficit to one in the No. 6 slot after dropping her first set 6-2. The rookie took the second set 6-2 and won the final four games of the third set to edge Peyton Pesavento 7-5.
Minutes later, Eliza Omirou pulled out her third set against senior captain Jackie Urbinati as the sixth-seeded Demon Deacons advanced to Friday's quarterfinal.
Urbinati and Kylie Wilcox upset the 34th-ranked team of Davis and Chandler Carter in No. 1 doubles 6-3 to earn their seventh consecutive victory and third straight against a top-50 duo.
The NCAA Tournament Selection Show is scheduled for Monday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. and will air live on NCAA.com.
