The Boston College baseball team takes on Northeastern at Fenway Park on Tuesday, April 17 at 2 p.m. in the annual Beanpot. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+. Net proceeds from ticket sales for the Beanpot championship round at Fenway will benefit the Pete Frates #3 Fund.
ABOUT THE EAGLES
The Eagles are 18-19 overall after a 4-6 homestand, which included a four-game win streak. Senior third baseman Jake Alu is hitting a team-high .345 with 32 runs scored and 13 doubles. Freshman outfielder Sal Frelick is second on the team with a .342 average, 25 RBI and 15 stolen bases. Three other BC hitters are above the .300 threshold, including junior first baseman Jack Cunningham at .309. He has slugged a team-leading five home runs and has 20 runs scored and driven in. Freshman second baseman Cody Morissette is hitting .313 with 11 doubles, while junior shortstop Brian Dempsey is hitting .310 with a team-high 28 RBI.SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
Northeastern is 17-18 overall and 7-5 in the CAA after salvaging its series at UNCW with a 12-inning win on Sunday. Designated hitter Ian Fair leads the Huskies' lineup with a .337 average and six home runs. Left fielder Corey DiLoreto is second on the team at .328 to go with eight doubles and three triples. First baseman Jake Farrell has slugged six doubles, five triples and five home runs with a .281 batting average.BASEBALL BEANPOT
The 30th annual Baseball Beanpot got underway with a doubleheader at the Harrington Athletics Village on April 2. BC lost to UMass, 6-2, in the opener and Harvard defeated Northeastern, 4-3. Boston College is 38-18-1 all-time in Beanpot games.ALL-TIME VS. NORTHEASTERN
Boston College leads the all-time series over Northeastern, 57-37-1, including a 7-4 record against the Huskies at Fenway Park. The two teams last faced off at Fenway in 2007; a 2-0 NU win. The Eagles have the longest win streak in series history at eight games between 1997 and 2000. A six-game BC win streak was snapped last season.LAST TIME THEY MET
Northeastern scored a single run in the first and led wire-to-wire. BC pulled within a run in the eighth at 3-2 before the Huskies netted an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to put the game at its final score of 4-2 with each side collecting 10 hits. Kyle Murphy got the win in three-shutout innings with one hit and one walk issued, while striking out four. Joe Mancini tossed four innings and allowed two runs in the loss for the Eagles.RETURNING TO FENWAY
Last season, Boston College hosted its seventh annual ALS Awareness Game at Fenway Park; the second year in a row the game was played at the home of the Red Sox. The game drew a BC-record 5,433 fans as No. 17 Florida State won, 13-7. Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker threw out the ceremonial first pitch and Pete Frates and family were in attendance.
