Eagles Shut Out By No. 17 Georgia Tech

BC lineup cools off after Friday win.
BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Boston College baseball team was shut out by No. 17 Georgia Tech, 7-0, at the Harrington Athletics Village on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles fell back below .500 at 18-19 overall and are 7-11 in the ACC, while the Yellow Jackets improved to 24-12 and 11-7.
After winning the series opener on Friday, 9-2, BC managed just one run over the next 18 innings. The Eagles had the first threat of the day with two runners on and one out in the second. After a two-out walk loaded the bases, Georgia Tech escaped the inning with a harmless groundball to end the threat.
The Jackets offense came out for the next half inning and took advantage of three walks, two hit batters and a walk. Ultimately, Georgia Tech scored four times in the inning with the only hit a bunt-single on a sacrifice attempt after a leadoff hit batter.
Freshman right-hander Mason Pelio (San Diego, Calif.) had retired the first six batters of the day, including striking out the side in the second, before running in to trouble in the third. Pelio (4-2) lasted five innings, struck out six, walked five and gave up four runs on three hits.
For the Yellow Jackets, lefty Brant Hurter (2-2) threw seven-scoreless innings with nine strikeouts. He surrendered just two this and three walks.
