Boccagno's Home Run Ignites Offense in 8-4 Victory Over Louisville

Eagles drop Louisville, 8-4
BRIGHTON, Mass. – Freshman Gianna Boccagno hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning as Boston College downed Louisville, 8-4, in the second game of the three-game series at the Harrington Athletics Village on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles (14-24, 4-10 ACC) scored eight runs on seven hits and had zero errors in the victory. Freshman pitcher Camryn Dolby picked up her ninth win of the season as she went 3.2 innings, scattered five hits, gave up two runs and struck out six batters.
Boccagno went 1-for-2, with the home run, two RBI and two runs scored. It was her team-high seventh home run of the season and her first since March 19 vs. Quinnipiac.
Senior Lexi DiEmmanuele had a solid day at the plate as the center fielder had three hits, a stolen base and a run scored. Senior Allyson Moore had double and an RBI, while senior Carly Severini collected a hit and two RBI.
Louisville (26-14, 7-7 ACC) had eight hits, four runs and three errors. The Cardinals left 11 runners on base.
The Eagles went up 2-1 in the first behind an RBI single by Moore. Ellie Mataya would score the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.
After Louisville tied the game at 2-2 in the fourth, Boston College would respond with a four-run three-hit inning. With two out, Jenna Ergle jump started the offense with a single to center. Boccagno stepped up and launched a 3-2 pitch over the left field fence for a 4-2 BC lead. The Eagles tacked on two more runs behind a bases-loaded walk and an infield error by the Louisville to push the lead to, 6-2.
BC scored two more runs in the fifth inning behind a double to left field by Severini.
Louisville made things interesting in the seventh with a two-run home run from Megan Hensley but Dolby shut the door. She popped up the next batter to left field and struck out two to seal the win.
