Eagles Fall to Louisville, 9-2

BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Boston College softball team lost to Louisville, 9-2, on Friday in an ACC series at the Harrington Athletics Village.
The Eagles (13-24, 3-10 ACC) gave up five runs in the sixth inning after leading through the first five innings.
Redshirt freshman Jenna Ergle went 2-for-3 with two RBI for BC. Freshman Susannah Anderson went 5.1 innings with five strikeouts, while giving up four earned runs. Camryn Dolby pitched 1.1 innings and gave up four runs on four hits.
Louisville (26-13, 7-6 ACC) had nine hits scored nine runs in the last two innings and left six runners on base. Â Taylor Roby (9-1) earned the win as she went 3.2 innings, struck out two and gave up one hit and one run.
The Eagle took a 1-0 lead in the second inning after Gianna Boccagno and Gianna Randazza walked. With two on, Ergle hit a single to right to knock in the first run. Ergle singled to center in the fourth inning, which scored Boccagno for a 2-0 lead.
Louisville was held to two hits in the first five innings. With one out in the sixth, the Cardinals scored five runs on two hits, two walks and an error. BC's Camryn Dolby came in to relieve Anderson. She retired two of three batters to get out of the inning.
The Cardinals tacked on four more runs on three hits in the seventh inning for the 9-2 final.
