Susannah Anderson tosses a complete game shutout

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Freshman pitcher Susannah Anderson tossed her second complete game shutout of the season as Boston College defeated Penn 4-0 Tuesday afternoon. Anderson was dominant, allowing just three hits to go along with seven strikeouts.

The seven strikeouts were a career-high for Anderson as BC won its second straight game to improve to 6-10 on the season. Penn dropped to 2-4 with the loss.

The game was scoreless through five innings before BC exploded for four runs in the top of the sixth. Freshman right fielder Maddison Hamilton doubled to center to break the scoreless tie as two runs scored to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead. The two RBI for Hamilton were the first of her career.

Freshman pinch hitter Kristin Giery followed Hamilton with a two-run home run to left field to give BC a 4-0 advantage. It was the second homer of the year for Giery.

BC continues its Spring Break in Florida on Wednesday at UCF. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. from the UCF Softball Complex in Orlando.
